形態特徵

• Stems 0.7-3 m tall, 0.5-1 cm thick near base, nodes many, rather well branched, glabrous.
• Leaf blades broadly ovate to lance-oblong, 10-20 cm long, 5-12 cm wide, herbaceous, glabrous, apex acute, base rounded, costa prominently ridged on pale green lower surface; petiole 1-2 cm long, sheathing base 10-15 cm long, glabrous.
• Inflorescence paniculate, bearing few to several spikes; spikes slender; bracts 8-14, caducous except for 4-7 distal ones subtending flower, hence spikes becoming naked at anthesis. Outer bracts spathaceous, 2.5-3.5 cm long, acute, greenish, subcoriaceous; inner bracts oblanceolate, membranaceous, 1-1.5 cm long, acutish. Calyx lobes 3.5-5 mm long, white. Corolla 2-2.5 cm long including tube, tube 8-10 mm long. Staminal tube 3 mm long; outer staminodes 2, 1.5 cm long, equal; inner fleshy staminodes yellowish, 1.5 cm long; lobed cucullate staminodes 1 cm long; stamen 8 mm long.
• Fruit globose, indehiscent, 1-1.5 cm across, grayish white; seeds 1 or 2.
• In addition to <i>Donax canniformis</i>, several species of Marantaceae are cultivated in Taiwan as ornamentals, but no accurate documentation of their names and numbers is available.

• 台灣 : Wet places in secondary forests and bamboo thickets.
• 世界 : From Lanyu Island, southeastward to Indoc-China and Malaysia, also throughout the Philippines, southeeastward to the Malesian region.
